Deborah Blum, author of "The Poisoner's Handbook," will tell the story of how a pair of intrepid scientists in Prohibition-era New York City tackled murderers, big corporations and the U.S. government in their determination to catch killers, solve chemical mysteries, and build the new science of forensics. Blum, a Pulitzer Prize-winning science journalist, is a professor of journalism at the UW-Madison. Her talk will be followed by a reception.
