Reading the Prairie Landscape

- DescriptionAn open-grown oak surrounded by human invention or flowering spurge lining the edge of a cornfield give clues into landscapes of the past. This class will help the student pay closer attention to historical clues and to develop a keen eye for reading the prairie landscapes of today. An emphasis will be placed on prairie plant adaptations, prairie plant families and identification. Recommended reading: "Prairie Plants of the UW-Madison Arboretum."
