Famed lawyer Clarence Darrow often tried cases that invoked the largest social conflicts and issues of his day. This course examines Darrow and 4 trials at the junctions of great American conflicts in the early 20th century: labor and capital, race relations, religion's role in public life, and the death penalty. In a sense, America itself was on trial in these fascinating cases.
