Commonly known as “pond scum,” algae have often been dismissed as a nuisance. In fact, they might be the most under-appreciated organisms on the planet! This two-part workshop will introduce the major groups of algae and their identifying characteristics followed by video microscope observations of live material obtained from field collections. Participants are encouraged to bring their own samples for identification. Come learn about algae!
