Description
Presented by Isabelle Druc, Ph.D., Dept of Anthropology, UW-Madison and Ceramologist

The force of tradition, consumer demand, social-connections, political boundaries are all factors influencing ceramic production, sometimes more strongly than the proximity of the raw materials. Production in the Andes is no exception. Interviews with potters from the highlands of Peru, ethnoarchaeological research and paste analysis help us understand how production might have taken place in ancient times.
