Current issues like health care reform, same sex marriage, Indian casinos, and climate change illustrate the importance of state and federal relations. Wisconsin has played an especially critical role in the development and implementation of public policies within federal structures. We examine the fundamentals of federalism and how intergovernmental relations have changed over time and how individual states interact with the national government.
