Jan Vansina on Memory, Autobiography, and WWII in Flanders

Vansina speaks about his memoir THROUGH THE DAY, THROUGH THE NIGHT: A FLEMISH BELGIAN BOYHOOD AND WORLD WAR II (UW Press). His boyhood and youth were rocked by waves of economic depression, fascism, competing nationalisms, and the occupation of Axis and then Allied forces.
