Vansina speaks about his memoir THROUGH THE DAY, THROUGH THE NIGHT: A FLEMISH BELGIAN BOYHOOD AND WORLD WAR II (UW Press). His boyhood and youth were rocked by waves of economic depression, fascism, competing nationalisms, and the occupation of Axis and then Allied forces. Co-sponsored by the UW-Madison Department of History, African Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Anthropology, European Studies Alliance, and the University of Wisconsin Press.
