Description
Direct measurement of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is challenging and in situ observing arrays date only to 2004. Such short observational records of the AMOC make it difficult to study its variability and compare against climate models. My research uses surface-forced water mass transformation (WMT) as a method to indirectly estimate the AMOC.
