Description
Dr. Elspeth H. Brown brings together the history of glamour and fashion photography to argue that glamour has been, historically, a queer production. The focus is on American photographer George Platt Lynes, one of many pre-WWII artists whose work stemmed from an elite, transatlantic, white queer kinship network. Together, these artists would define a glamour aesthetic decidedly queer in its production and reception.
Dr. Brown is Associate Professor of History at the University of Toronto.
