Description
Patients with bilateral cochlear implants (BiCIs) are poor at localizing sound in reverberant environs. Normally, the auditory system has a mechanism, buildup in the precedence effect, allowing the auditory system to adapt to room acoustics. In BiCI there is a question whether they are capable of buildup given they haven’t heard proper binaural information. This has implications on signal processing approaches for restoring binaural info transmitted to the external processors of the implants.
